persistence is magical
March 19, 2007 – 4:09 pmPersistence is magical when combined with resourcefulness and a willingness to evolve. Seth Godin hints at this entrepreneurial characteristic in a recent post about his experience launching Squidoo.
“It takes longer than you think it will.”
Absolutely. Not only do you need to maintain the course but you have to stay flexible in order to adapt in these ever-changing times.
“What you start with is wrong.”
Although this seems a bit extreme, it is spot on. “Wrong” does not imply failure, it’s simply one of the natural laws of entrepreneurship. Take for example the revolutionary Internet hits MySpace and YouTube. Both ventures started with a purpose very different from what makes them successful today. It’s not luck, it’s a natural law of entrepreneurship. Just accept it, have fun and keep cranking. Fortunately, persistence combined with resourcefulness and a willingness to evolve will always prevail.
